- Snowboarding became a winter Olympic sport in 1998 it definitely deserved it. This sport in my opinion is the best.
- First snowboard was steered by a handheld rope. Yea it didn't really work well at first and was hard to control for most people so it just didn't catch on at that time.
- in the year 2000, Snowboarding was the fastest- sport in the US (obviously followed by skateboarding), with the number of enthusiasts taking up snowboarding to a total of just over 7.2 million. It goes to show how a great sport can get so popular quickly over time.
- Did you know there are still ski resort that don't allow snowboarders.
- Snowboarding helped improve the skis to make a shorter and more maneuverable skis with deeper side cuts.
- U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that 37,600 Snowboarding injuries and 84,200 skiing injuries were treated in 1997 the year i was born so that's good to know I suppose. A lot of those were head injuries as well so its does matter to wear a helmet unlike everyone says. A study did even show that wearing a helmet prevent or reduce the pain of nearly half of all head injuries to adults and more than half of kids that are under the age of 15.
