Noteable Mentions
Inventor Steven J. Derrah invented the most helpful part of the snowboard the Binding. Without the binding it wouldn't been a huge hit in the sports industry. The Binding makes riding a snowboard incredibly safer for use and more people were able to ride snowboards due to the control they had on the snowboard from the Binding. Easily adaptable and changed the Snowboard forever. Patented on December 25, 1990
Another Inventor that had a big impact on the Snowboard is Chad S. Campton the inventor of the Stomp pad. The Stomp pad is a removable pad you put on the board to ease the process of learning to control a snowboard without being binded. The Stomp pad has made it easy for me and many other when learning how to snowboard. But now of days there are so many different type of stomp pads from little spikes to any other obscure shape. The Stomp pad was patented July 12, 2001

Facts on snowboarding
- Snowboarding became a winter Olympic sport in 1998 it definitely deserved it. This sport in my opinion is the best.
- First snowboard was steered by a handheld rope. Yea it didn't really work well at first and was hard to control for most people so it just didn't catch on at that time.
- in the year 2000, Snowboarding was the fastest- sport in the US (obviously followed by skateboarding), with the number of enthusiasts taking up snowboarding to a total of just over 7.2 million. It goes to show how a great sport can get so popular quickly over time.
- Did you know there are still ski resort that don't allow snowboarders.
- Snowboarding helped improve the skis to make a shorter and more maneuverable skis with deeper side cuts.
- U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that 37,600 Snowboarding injuries and 84,200 skiing injuries were treated in 1997 the year i was born so that's good to know I suppose. A lot of those were head injuries as well so its does matter to wear a helmet unlike everyone says. A study did even show that wearing a helmet prevent or reduce the pain of nearly half of all head injuries to adults and more than half of kids that are under the age of 15.
