Tom sims story of becoming one of the fathers of the snowboard

To begin, Tom Sims a pro skateboard champion that had a passion for snurfer and wanted to improve it .In 1970 moved to California ran a shop in Santa Barbara and during the time skating exploded since he was a champion he was saw as a skateboard icon. Became one of the top producers in skateboard in set the bar high when it came to skateboard manufacturing. He was building skiboards during this time. Fun fact you should know In 1963, Sims made what he called a "skiboard," for his seventh grade wood-shop class by combining his two favorite sports at that time, skiing and skateboarding, while in junior high at Haddonfield Central School in New Jersey. This was amazing accomplishment at a young age.
Sims started producing snowboards the around the same time Jake Burton started his. In 1977, Bob Weber contacted Tom Sims and his employee Chuck Barfoot about teaming up on a snowboard design to improve it. During this time they worked on numerous boards also on how to improve its control and working with fiber glass to do so. Recruiting many skateboards and snowboards, who would pass up a Sims board? Also he was James bond stunt devil when they  snowboarded in a scene. (Sims was also an integral part creating of the snowboarding halfpipe, as one of the lucky  few that got  to ride the first at the Tahoe City landfill. He then went on to introduce the halfpipe and freestyle at the very first World Championships at Soda Springs, Calif. in 1983.) There was infamous decades-long Burton vs. Sims clash began fighting to be the very best snowboarder/snowboarder creator. Snowboarding moved from a  movement to a mainstream sport, and the rest is history.

Jake burton's story to becoming one of the fathers of the snowboard.

The year 1980 when Jake was a 23 year-old student at the time. He was a big snurfer fan and wanted keep improving the toy till it can actually be considered a real sporting good. To make foot traps for more controls and fins for more stability the future of this improvements seemed possible for improving his riding.Started making boards out of fiber glass, adding binding to help add more control, and made it possible to help control the snowboard on hard packed snow. His company developed  into one of the most prosperous companies for snowboard sporting goods.

Dimitrije Milovich's story of becoming one of the fathers of the snowboard

In the year 1970 Milovich, an east coast surfer, got a spark of genius while sliding around on a cafeteria trays in snowy New york. He started development like no one else had using steel edges on a short surf board experimenting with laminating glass and other things to make his board.Giving birth to the company "Winterstick" which is considered the very first snowboard company ever. The year 1975 his company being mentioned in magazines and barely existing on the market. In 1980 the company unfortunately went broke.

Mr.Poppen's story of becoming one of the fathers of the snowboard

One of the creators of the original snowboard was a man named Sherman Poppen a young surf freak. Sherman was only dreaming about surfing the magic winter landscape of the Rockies. In 1964 he built a surfboard for the snow. His first prototype was an about 1,20 m long plastic plank: made of  two kids' skis bolted together.
A year later, in 1965 Sherman's  idea was
put into mass production with a bowling-ball manufacturer to make the product called "snurfer" (=snow-surfer). This product sold pretty well when Christmas time came for the price of 15$. One million snurfers were sold in the following ten years. Soon Mr.Poppen tried to start to establish a competition series but unfortunately the interest for snurfer ended just as fast as it began. The toy leaving peoples homes and only leaving the thought of it. A uncontrollable toy, and the thought of surfing the snowy white mountains seemed dead if it wasn't for people like Dimitrije Milovich or Jake Burton Carpenter. In a interview a journalist ask Sherman if he was surprised by how big it is now. He responded "I tell you when it really hit me. They had three premiere showings of these snowboarding movies this fall at a local bar and I sat there dumbfounded. The things they went off and the courses they were running and I just couldn't believe it. It's really fun to watch."
